Gwinnett Senior Golden Games Meeting

March 16, 2009

At 9:00 A.M. today, we had an Executive meeting to finalize our plans for our 2009 Senior Golden Games.

At 10:00 A.M. Bob, our President, called our general meeting to order. Bob started our meeting with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.

Then Chris gave the treasurer’s report.  The balance is $19,456.  Although the economy was a little rough this year, we will be fine. Chris reported we have enough to cover our expenses with a balance left over.

Bob was a little disappointed that our attendance is down some this year.  He and Eileen work very hard to make our group grow, even if it is only by 1 or 2 people. He even wants to have a vote on whether or not we should have the games every year or every other year. Those at the meeting discussed it and like the idea of having it every year like for the last 10 years.  He wants to see how you feel about it and will have a vote on it in June. We mentioned to him that it could be because of the change in location and our deadline date was earlier this year, March 1st instead of March 10th.  Ten days could have made a difference to those that hold things off for the last minute.  Next year please circle the date and mail it in plenty of time to reach us. Thank you.

We voted on the gift and gift cards.  We will give out 16 - $25 gift cards at the opening meeting and 16 - $25 gift cards at the closing. Everyone registered will receive a gift at the opening meeting along with a t-shirt.  Gwinnett County Convention & Visitors Bureau has agreed to help pay for our shirts if we add their logo. We discussed it and agreed to add their logo on the sleeve.  Our logo will be on the front of the shirt.

We always need more sponsors. If there is anyone that you do business with that you think would be interested in sponsoring our group, please call Bob.

Elections are this year.  Do you want to hold a position on the board?  Get more involved in the Senior Games?  Nominate someone or yourself.

Anyone that was planning to help set up at Rhodes Jordan Park, on April 14th, please don’t come before noon for the opening and on May 12th also at 12 noon.

The manager’s packets were handed out today.  For those that did not attend the meeting, Susie will call managers and tell them to pick up the packets at Bethesda Senior Center.

A few changes:  The Archery date is changed to May 2nd not May 9th.

Entertainment:  There was a last minute change in the entertainment. Cleo will contact us with a replacement when possible.

Medals will be counted and handed out to all managers at the opening ceremony.

Rules for the games are all posted on our web page. Also, Susie will have a rule book at the events.

If anyone wants our former medals for any reason, we are selling them for $1 each.

Bob thanked everyone for coming and we will see you on April 14th or at the opening on April 15th at 9 A.M.—Program starts at 11:00 A.M.

Sincerely,

Marie Hickman, Secretary
