Gwinnett Senior Golden Games Meeting
Minutes for February 8, 2010
What a great and productive meeting we had today! Many of our event managers showed up and expressed their ideas and comments. Bob welcomed everyone and started our meeting with the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance to our flag.
Bob introduced our Gwinnett Co. representative, John Register.
The January minutes were read and approved. The treasurer gave his report. As of today, the balance is $17,121. To date our expenses are $12,500, received $7500 donations and had to pay an extra expense of $790 for printing. Applications are starting to come in, 38 plus 4 out of county residents before today, and several applications were turned in at this meeting.
We are short on donations this year, so we have sent out 29 letters to last year donors and follow ups. Special thanks to Cleo and Lynn for donations. If you could think of anyone that would love to support seniors and keep them active, please let us know.
Our next topic was entertainment. We had suggestions for tap-dancers and the Hi-lo singers. There may be a problem with tap-dancing on the gym floor, so we may have to check with the singers to see if they are available.
Eileen went over the Event Managers duties. Verify your date and where it is being held. Know where your supplies are and return them to where you picked them up. Have your rules with you at the event. You can get them off the website. READ YOUR PACKETS. Pick volunteers before the day of. Fill out your score sheets and your winners. Doug will be counting out the medals for each event. You can pick them up at Opening Ceremony.
Due to extra expenses this year, we will be using the extra supply of t-shirts that we had from last year. So please be happy with the size, color, etc. The nice part is that they are free, and are a minor part of the wonderful program we have planned for you!
Bob will need volunteers to help SET UP for the opening and closing events. You will need to be at Rhodes Jordan by noon the day before: SET UP DATES ARE: Opening April 6th at 12 p.m. Closing May 18th at 12 p.m.
To my surprise, Bob announced that Marie Hickman was selected as the Senior Games Volunteer of the Year. Thank you Bob, I love this group and enjoy volunteering my time for what I feel is a worthwhile organization to keep seniors active, healthy and happy.
Since there were no further questions or comments, Bob adjourned the meeting.
Don’t forget you can print out a registration form from our website in case you run out of booklets. Our next meeting will be March 15th at 10:00 A.M, the last meeting before the Senior Games begin. Hope to see you there.
Sincerely,
Marie Hickman, Secretary
