Gwinnett Senior Golden Olympics Meeting Minutes

November 21, 2005    10:00 A.M.

Our President, Al Sandham, called the meeting to order.

Our treasurer, Eileen was away on vacation so Al gave the treasurer’s report, $7714.83 as of our November meeting.

We will still work at getting donations and pledges for our event.  All donations will be spent on the participants. We have decided on gray tee-shirts with a small emblem this year. Also, if our budget allows, we will have a special gift for each participant.  The dates again are April 21, 2006 to May 19, 2006.

There are two changes in the sports available. Running will be discontinued in 2006. But we will be adding Badmitton this year.  All the equipment has been furnished.

We want to thank all the seniors that stepped up to be venue managers for our 2006 event. Although we have each event covered, we still need volunteers to help run the events smoothly.  So please sign up if you would like to help. Thank you for your prompt response to our call.

Al went through our program page by page, announcing changes. I will mention a few.  Our bowling will be at Brunswick #29 Bowling Alley; our menu may be changed; and we will rearrange the field games scheduling for there was too much time in between events. The program will be going to press in December. After finalized, you will be mailed a copy listing all the events available for you to participant in and dates.  We are getting excited as the meetings get closer to the event. Come join in and help with the planning.  Our next meeting is December 19th.

Beginning the first of the year, our Bethesda Center will be open on Saturdays and Sundays.  Shuffleboard practice will be available.  More information will be announced later.

Don’t forget to check out the train display at the Old Courthouse during the season, starting Thanksgiving Day. Bob Giselbach had a lot to do with making this display and is very proud of it, so check it out. It is worth the trip!

Dana Dow talked about the donations to the Gwinnett Children Center, that over 1000 people went through the “Tour of Homes” and Al added that we gave a donation of $400.

We mentioned the Goodie Bags and also whether we should give ribbons for the 4th, 5th and 6th places.  It will be discussed at a later meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:15 A.M.

                                                            Respectfully Submitted
