Gwinnett Senior Golden Games Meeting
October 20, 2008
Following our Executive Meeting, at 10:00 A.M. our President called our general meeting to order. He welcomed everyone, followed by a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. The minutes of the last meeting were read and stand approved. Chris gave the treasurer’s report. Our balance is $9962.02 and he was happy to announce we have no outstanding debt.
We discussed our reception at Garden Plaza Retirement Apts. The date will be Nov 7, 2008 at 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. in the afternoon. All venue managers that volunteered again this year will be sent a letter thanking you for your dedication and inviting you to this reception. Please RSVP to Bob, he will need a head count by Oct. 31st.
We have decided to expand our sponsors’ categories. We will add the Diamond Category under Platinum and above Gold. Susie will make the adjustment when she sets up the new Sponsor Page.
Bob asked if any executive board member would head up the food committee or serve on a committee. Three of the committees are already filled so Doug and Marie volunteered on the food committee. Bob stated if anyone else wants to sign up today, they would also be invited to the reception. Diane, Hank and Jo An agreed to work on the food committee. Jan said she would be happy to be on the telephone committee if they needed anyone else.
Bob returned from the State Senior Olympics with the following information: There were 521 participants, we were thanked for our $100 donation and we were 1 of 2 senior games that had a banner at the Parade of Athletes. We want to thank Bud and Earl for carrying our banner and displaying it.
We have decided to buy all gift cards instead of gifts. We may have one gift, example Chateau Elan. Our deadline for our senior games will be MARCH 1 for entries and by March 10th they must be in our hands in order to allow time to process them.
We are planning to have entertainment at our opening meeting, we are working on it. Doug has suggested Clark Howard, if we can get him. He would be wonderful to have with all his knowledge and wisdom. I’m sure we would all benefit by inviting him.
The fees will be the same, $15 for games, t-shirt, gifts, prizes, 2 meals, fellowship and FUN, FUN, FUN. Guest will be $10, but please encourage your guest to join. For $5 more, they will get everything above.
Don’t forget the Health Fair, October 31st from 9-1 at the Gwinnett Senior Center, Bethesda.
There was no further business so the meeting was adjourned. Our next meeting will be November 17th at 10:00 A.M., following our Executive meeting.
Bob will be in Nashville for our December meeting; but there will be a December meeting, Doug our Vice President will run it. See you November 17th.
Sincerely,
Marie Hickman, Secretary
